There's controversy in Litchfield, Connecticut and it has to do with yellow ribbons. The town has banned them, but people keep putting them up.
First off, how on earth is 'Tying a yellow ribbon' to honor US troops overseas a bad thing?
The town board says the main reason for banning the ribbons is because the worn and tattered ribbons are a disrespectful display.
OK...So how about mandating that the ribbons that are tattered be replaced rather than removed?
Not that I long for the 70's, but as far as this ban goes, Tony Orlando and Dawn said it best. Go ahead and "Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'Round the Old Oak Tree"
